Rollors

How To Play Video

Activity/Supplies Location: Outdoor Stage

Rollors is an outdoor yard game that combines elements of bocce ball and horseshoes. The game involves rolling wooden disks, known as Rollors, across a playing area towards a set of numbered goals. Players take turns rolling their Rollors and earn points based on how close they land to the goals or if their Rollor knocks down other Rollors. The objective is to accumulate the highest score by strategically rolling the Rollors and aiming for the highest-scoring targets. Rollors provides a fun and engaging activity for players of all ages and can be played in various outdoor settings.

  1. Setup:
    • Find a flat and open outdoor playing area, such as a yard or a park.
    • Mark a rectangular playing area using stakes or cones. The dimensions can be adjusted based on the available space, but a typical size is around 25 feet by 10 feet.
    • Place the Rollors at one end of the playing area, forming a starting line.
  1. Equipment:
    • Rollors Game Set, which typically includes six Rollors (wooden disks) and two goal posts with numbered sections.
    • Scorecard or pen and paper to keep track of the scores.
  1. Gameplay:
    • Players take turns rolling their Rollors from behind the starting line towards the goal posts at the other end of the playing area.
    • The goal is to score points based on how close the Rollor lands to the goal posts or if it knocks down other Rollors.
  1. Scoring:
    • When a Rollor comes to rest, measure the distance from the center of the Rollor to the closest goal post. The player scores the number of points indicated by the goal post section it is closest to.
    • If a Rollor knocks over another Rollor, the player scores the number of points on the overturned Rollor.
    • The maximum points that can be scored in a single throw is 25 (by knocking over a Rollor and landing closest to the 25-point goal post).
    • If a Rollor lands completely outside the playing area or does not reach the goal posts, it scores zero points for that turn.
  1. Turn Order and Play:
    • Players take turns rolling their Rollors towards the goal posts, starting with the first player.
    • After each turn, record the scores and determine the new turn order based on the highest score. The player with the highest score goes first in the subsequent rounds.
  1. Winning the Game:
    • The game typically consists of several rounds, with players accumulating points over the course of the game.
    • The game can be played to a specific score (e.g., 100 points) or a predetermined number of rounds.
    • The player with the highest total score at the end of the game is declared the winner.

Remember, Rollors is a versatile game, and rules can be adjusted based on players’ preferences and agreements. Have fun playing Rollors and enjoy the outdoor competition!
